Types Of Lasers - The Infra Red Laser & The Infra Red Hair Removal Process

Having done my basic research on laser hair removal, it was now time for me to look at the various types of lasers and technologies being used for hair removal. I soon found that infra red hair removal is one of the most popular options. This type of laser hair removal is available under various brand and product names but the technology, if it's called infra red hair removal, is basically the same in all cases.

How the infra red hair removal process works:

First of all let me clarify a minor point - in the infra red hair removal treatment, it's not actually infra red light that is used, but near infra red, which is more effective.

Infra red hair removal works by the emission of a near infrared laser light that is absorbed by the pigment in the skin that surrounds each hair follicle. The laser uses a pulse system with the laser being turned on and off for fractions of a second, each time. This is just enough for the laser to kill the hair root without damaging any other areas, either above or below the skin's surface. Because there may be some slight sensation of warmth around the area covered by the laser, some infra red hair removal systems use a supplementary cooling device to immediately cool the area of skin that is affected.

While infra red lasers technology is widespread and easy to use, the best infra red hair removal systems are designed from the ground up, only for this purpose and so there is no compromise either in terms of safety or efficacy.

Advantages of infra red hair removal treatment:

Being designed only for the purpose of hair removal, infra red hair removal offers many advantages:

? In the infra red hair removal treatment, because of the nature of the infra red pulse and the very sort duration, the irritation to the skin is minimal, and even that may be further reduced by the use of a supplementary cooling pad which is applied to the surface immediately after the laser has been used.

? The system of focusing the laser beam in the infra red hair removal process is such that it can be used either on a very small defined area or on a larger surface.

? Since there are no needles used in the infra red hair removal treatment and the skin is never punctured, there is little or no risk of any kind of infection occurring.

? In the infra red hair removal process, the infra red laser acts only on the hair follicle and roots, and it has no effect on the adjoining skin.

? Because the nature and strength of the laser beam used in infra red hair removal procedure is adjustable, it can be used on a variety of skin types. Even sensitive skin will have, at most, some slight irritation that will soon disappear.

? With the infra red hair removal treatment, the skin color and the amount of tan do not effect the operation of the laser which can be adjusted to compensate for these factors.

? A session for the infra red hair removal process can be finished quickly and while, as in all laser hair removal systems, repeat sessions of the infra red hair removal treatment are often required to complete the process, each sitting is a quick walk in and walk out operation.
